Hi everyone!
Today I’m excited to review the newest foundation from one of my favourite brands, the recently launched Advanced Mineral Makeup from Napoleon Perdis. I purchased the stylishly designed foundation at Farmers at $75 and have been using it daily for a week.

Firstly, I was a bit surprised at the high price – it costs more than some MAC foundations! However, I soon realised that the ingredients and quality were some of the best I’ve seen in a foundation: it contains minerals, light sun protection (I often wear SPF 30 sunscreen underneath for extra protection), is oil-free (suitable for people like me who have combination skin), and not only does it contain vitamins C (helps the production of collagen) and vitamin E (anti-oxidant that protects and retains moisture in your skin), but vitamin A too (accelerates production of collagen and elastin, which means it helps your skin stay healthy and plump), which, from my experience, isn’t an extremely common ingredient in foundations. I am very happy with its ingredients!
The number of natural ingredients also makes this foundation an excellent choice. I always read the ingredients list on the back of make-up, and besides the ingredients already mentioned, it also contains Oleanolic Acid and the plant extracts of Enantia Chlorantha Bark, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Portulaca Olearacea Exact, and Centella Asiatica Extract (Centella Asiatica is also one of the ingredients in L’Oreal’s Renewal Serum Inside mascara).
What about its application?
The foundation comes in 6 shades, and just as with the new Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer, I chose the third – Look 3 Medium. I feel like the colour result is something that could be improved, possibly by more shades – while testing the shades Look 2, 3 and 4, I saw that the lighter and darker shades differ significantly. For example, Look 4 is a lot darker than Look 3 even though they are only one shade apart, and so I think the 6 shades, while obviously aiming to be flexible, may not be extremely accurate for many people’s skin tones in between. Look 3 doesn’t even match my skin tone exactly; it has just a hint of orange-ness to it, which is noticeable upon swatching it on my cheeks, but really evens out well when spread with the help of a stippling brush! (It does make me look more tanned, but in a very subtle way.)
I have no problems with its texture; just as hoped, it is smooth and a pleasure to blend, much like a moisturiser :)
This foundation is nicely buildable too; I have not experienced caking with it at all, so with your preference, it’s perfect for medium to full coverage. For me, one layer is enough to significantly even out my skin tone and fade out my freckles or dark areas, while I apply an extra if I want full coverage!
Altogether, I love this foundation, mostly because I know that it’s helping to maintain my skin’s health, being comparatively healthier than many other foundations on the market. Because it claims to ‘lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles’, a claim that I can’t yet test, it may also be a great choice for those want an anti-aging foundation! But, while I don’t mind the subtle orange tint of my shade, it would be great if it was more neutral.

I would also like to review the Napoleon Perdis Lady Lavender Hand Cream, which came as a gift with the purchase of the Advanced Mineral Makeup. Just like with the foundation, I’m super impressed at the richness of it. The description is a ‘ultra-moisturising hand cream [that] provides skin with deep nourishment and hydration. Lightly fragranced with the alluring aroma of lavender, this cream leaves hands feeling luxuriously soft – with a blend of Aloe Vera, Argan Oil and Shea Butter – and smelling positively amazing.’

It also contains jojoba esters, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, vitamin E in the form of tocopherol, and the lavender scent comes from Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil. It’s one of my favourite things about the cream – it is such a luxurious scent, and adds to the soothing feeling of applying the cream!
The cream itself is thick and moisturises instantly and effectively – no surprise to me, as I know that the ingredients are high quality, especially shea butter which is always excellent for moisturising! This is one of the best hand creams I’ve tried; the effects of many other hand creams don’t last as long, especially as my hands can get very dry, but with this, I find that once I apply it all over my hands, I don’t need to re-apply for at least an hour.
Because of this, I’ve even tried it on my face, which is moisturised and soothed just as well without looking greasy.
If this cream becomes available as a separate product, and not simply as a gift with the Advanced Mineral Makeup, I would be happy to re-purchase this! I For those prone to dryness, I’d recommend this for effective and long-lasting relief.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this review and found it helpful!
