.:: BOBBI BROWN RICH LIP COLOR SPF12 IN COSMIC RASPBERRY ::.

Bobbi Brown has just released their new Rich Lip Color and I absolutely love the colours! Bobbi Brown is passionate about natural looking make-up and colours, which definitely comes out in this new lipstick collection, most of which is natural toned pinks and browns. I picked up one of the brighter shades from the collection in Cosmic Raspberry, described on Bobbi Brown’s website as a “bright pink fuschia.”

If I could say one thing about it, it’d be that it is very pigmented. So pigmented that I’ve stopped applying the lipstick to my lips fully. Instead, I use this technique: I swipe the lipstick in the centre of my bottom lip, then use a clear moisturizing lipbalm to spread it out – which creates a lovely colour result without being overpowering!

As it is so pigmented, when you wear the new Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color you’ll also notice that unfortunately, it comes off easily when you eat or drink, yet the colour on your lips doesn’t make much difference – at least for a while. Even though it comes off, it also has amazing staying power. When I wore it, it could last up 3 to 4 hours with exactly the same bright, rich lip colour I had when I first applied it.

I give this a 9/10 for its beautiful, true colour result that is accurate to its name, advertised images, and advertised descriptions (“lightweight, yet intense formula”) while the missing 1 is because of the lipstick insisting on coming off so easily. Still, it’s a fantastic lipstick and I’d highly recommend it for a long day – I’d recommend a longer-lasting one for a big night, such as a cocktail party with lots of photo taking. To top it off, it’s protective against mild sun damage with SPF12.

.:: NARS LIPSTICK (SEMI-MATTE) IN JUNGLE RED ::.

Since I’m reviewing Bobbi Brown’s new lipstick, I thought I’d also do a review of a lipstick I purchased in Hong Kong over the holidays: NARS lipstick in Jungle Red. It’s not a product that’s newly released, like Bobbi Brown’s, but when it comes to lip colour, classic red lips are timeless!

Especially when it comes to great formulas like NARS’s semi-matte lipstick in Jungle Red. I’d describe it as a very true, bright red that’s more cool toned. Like the Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color, it’s very pigmented, though slightly less that I wouldn’t have to use the same technique of applying I mentioned before, Likewise, it’s also as long-lasting if you don’t eat and drink a lot, with considerably good staying power. I love the unexpected herbal fragrance, too – it’s a refreshing change from lipsticks (and cosmetics in general) that smell of heavy chemical ingredients.

Without flash, the colour is exactly as seen on the lipstick, which is super impressive. Here are the products in natural lighting:

To put it simply, both of these are lipsticks I’d recommend – I like their formulas, their colour and pigmentation, and staying power. The added benefit of SPF with Bobbi Brown’s Rich Lip Color is a bonus :)
